Jackson Burning
I’ve always wanted to write a good old country song telling a story about some town, somewhere. Jackson Burning was what came of that.
This song is telling the story of a female outlaw back in the Wild West times, and her adventures with love and crime.
I’m rolling south out of Jackson Square
No tumble weed’s gonna take me back there
Left me a boy who promised me a man
Living free never felt so right
And I’m not turning round, got my pockets full, I’m walkin’ out alive
Guns blazin, sun’s fadin, down on this ghost town
I’m burning down the dirty south
This gypsy traveler needs a place to lay
To the house where tumblin dice can play
Found me a wild card to stay the night
Left him beggin on his knees
I’m burning down
Embers flyin, mama’s crying for my soul
The lights won’t dim on this town tonight
Out of the smoke you’ll burn again
Out of the ash I’ll rise against
Flames kissin, no one’s missin
Whistle blowin, time to go
Down the tracks, no looking back
On this ghost town
I’m burning down the dirty south
It Ain't Right
I’m pretty sure at this point in life we all have been wronged by someone. It doesn’t have to be a guy that did you wrong, it could be a friend that keeps using you and then tossing you aside when they don’t need you anymore. It Ain’t Right is all about getting that perfect revenge on someone who has been using you for years. We’ve finally cracked and we’re saying “no more”.
Why should I suffer? The only one in pain
While you cross the line, throw me aside, live to see another day?
Living on the edge, will only make you fall
Make you desperate for the end
Anyone can see, what you’re begging for
Firing shots point blank then run away, scared face up to me
Always wanting more, curtains drawn at last
For one final showdown here
When the clock strikes noon, I’ll come for you
Now you’re standing here alone
With your back against the wall
No more hiding behind the lies
Goin’ down crying, it ain’t right
Sometimes wrong, ain’t always right
And sometimes dark, ain’t at night
Got the devil on my shoulder
Left my angel behind me
Cause when it comes to you I always lose
I’d tell you things, to make you lose your mind
I’d sell your whispers but they sound just like lies
Don’t bother digging no hole
No rest in peace
One more sound
That’s all I need
Deadman Walkin'
I just want to preface this by saying, this song means the absolute world to me! This is THE song that I always wanted to write and that will forever be my favorite.
Deadman is in the simplest form a breakup song. In the complex form, it’s a story. And the story goes like this; one day I finally had enough. I was tired of being pushed around and I wanted out. And what way is more western than sending this guy to his grave?
This song is for anyone going through any type of negative relationship that needs that extra push to get out. You have the power to make your own choices, don’t ever let anyone take that from you. I hope this song gives you the strength to make the tough choices. And for everyone else, I hope you enjoy the energy of this song. I love telling stories, and this is chapter one.
I can feel a storm comin’
From the way you say my name
I feel it’s time for us to part our ways
Fire in his eyes tells me no
But the burning in my heart
Says I’m leaving tonight
Something bout those devil eyes
Makes your spirit come to life
Sell your soul for just a grin
Throw all caution to the wind
Whisper lies to your prey
Sing your song so all might say
You’re a deadman walkin’
Can’t sweet talk your way out from underground
The gallows call so sweetly
When the devil’s on his way
While the shovels of your coven dig your grave
Time has come, trials up
Eerie night cries deeply
It’s time to meet your maker
Here lies the one who lost his life for the sake of
Love and lies all in disguise
Rest in pieces, you took my heart to your grave
Sinner's Lullaby
I just want to start off this song by saying this was my grandma’s favorite song of mine so it means even more to me now that she’s gone. This song was always a favorite, but now it holds so much more emotional value to me.
Sinner’s Lullaby was the dark and twisted scene of losing someone that you’re not ready to let go of just yet. It’s the idea of loving someone so much that you want to wither away by their side instead of going on without them. It was a cool idea at the time, a Romeo and Juliet type song but in country format.
Now this songs feels applicable for more that two lovers. This song is the tragic love lost between anyone; friends, family, lovers. We’ve all experienced loss at some point in life, so I hope this song lets you know that you are not alone.
Lay me down upon the flame
That captivates these mindless wandering eyes
Set fire to the sky, won’t weep for this tragic angels fall
Am I supposed cry or am I
Supposed to lie and say I’ll be just fine
While you lay down tonight
Beneath the moonlight
Lay me down and let me wither
Watch me burn into your flame
No more secrets, stow your weakness
Rest my heart beside your grave
Let it burn into your memory
I’m not sorry, I won’t cave
I won’t try to calm the nightmares
But I just can’t walk away
Lay me down
Watch the smoke clear the sky
Leave behind no trace for me to find
My way behind this lie beside you and sing my sins to sleep
A pretty lullaby you sing
From the grave I hear you weep and say I’m not sorry for the way I laid you down
Lay me down beneath the waters
Cast me out upon the embers
Give me strength my spirit’s weakening
I’ll sing my sings to sleep
Buried Sins
This is the story of the ones who feel helpless, lost behind buried sin after buried sin. They try to keep the darkness hidden away from view, but it follows them… even when they break free.
Sometimes we create lie after lie to give the appearance of everything being alright, to the point that we get lost and can’t find the different between what is true and what is a lie. We can get lost in our own fiction.
All along their whispering
Voices I’ve ignored
Haunt me again
Another bottle on the floor
Each step I can’t recall
Your memory’s hit a wall
And I lived too long sweeping the dirt off my floor
Each night you find some way to be there when I close my eyes
Every minute lasts forever
When you’re feeling caught between a truth and a lie
Is there something left for me to say
Tearing those layers away
Uncover those buried sins
Sing to me the history
A message lost a sea
Replays in my dreams
This flash of red is blinding me
Can’t escape your empty stare
Your ghost still follows me
I loved to deeply to leave you crying in the ground
I sing our song praying tomorrow won’t come
I buried your heart
Deep in the ground
But I still can’t make a sound
Throw down my guard
Steal away with my heart
I’m lost without your scar
Truth becomes sin
The moment I let you in
Buried alive
